Staff Testimonials

I joined Skills for Security in 2022 after 17 years as an engineer, starting as an apprentice. Transitioning into this role wasn’t easy at first, but it’s been the right decision. I’ve been supported by Skills for Security along the way and completed qualifications including my Level 3 AET & TAQA. I take great pride in my role and enjoy seeing apprentices improve throughout their journey.

I’ve had the privilege of working at Skills for Security for six years, recently moving into an Account Manager role. Transitioning into the Sales team has shown me the dynamic nature of the Fire and Security industry and the importance of raising awareness about career opportunities. I’m excited to continue playing a role in connecting people to these opportunities and shaping the future of the industry.

I have enjoyed working alongside some great people at Skills for Security and within the Fire and Security industry. I am currently undertaking a Level 4 Sales Executive Apprenticeship to further my career and gain the best knowledge to apply to my role. As an apprentice myself, I find it rewarding to encourage the next generation of engineers and industry installers to pursue the apprenticeship route, helping to reduce the skills gap.

I have been with Skills since April 2024 and moved from the Business Administration team to the Learner Engagement Officer role in January 2025. I enjoy my role as it allows me to support learners throughout their apprenticeship, whilst also developing strong working relationships with both our learners and employers. I have learned so much about the world of apprenticeships over the last 11 months and am excited for my future with Skills.

I started teaching for Skills for Security in March 2023 after 26 years in the Fire and Security industry. I’ve achieved my Teaching Level 3 Award and TAQA Assessor’s Award. The support I’ve received, particularly during my transition from engineer to teacher, has been invaluable, and I now look forward to new challenges every week.
